O Wisdom

This evening, I am beginning a short series of daily posts that recite the "O Antiphons," seven great invocations that begin with some of the titles given to the Messiah. These are traditionally prayed by Catholics during vespers (evening prayer) from December 17 to December 23.

Here is the first:

O Wisdom, you came forth from the mouth of the Most High, and reached from end to end, and disposed of all things sweetly and mightily: come and teach us the way of prudence.

In Latin, "wisdom" is "sapientia":
