Western Pennsylvania's famous, young-sounding country band, The Poverty Neck Hillbillies, has fractured. The group's break-up will leave a hole in many Pittsburgh-area shows -- including McSummerfest back home in McDonald.
Why have blue collar cities like Pittsburgh embraced that ghastly whine called country music? I enjoy classic artists like Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash, but these garbage-can tappin', sleeveless faux-hillbillies need to disappear. Good riddance.
