Pennsylvania Oil Town

Below is a video clip that I randomly found on YouTube this weekend. It claims to be the text of an 1892 magazine article about a year or so in the early history of my hometown of McDonald, PA. The article looked at the discovery of oil in the town and the ensuing melee.

Check it out:

The clip is overly dramatic but generally accurate, I think. McDonald was an "oil town" for a very brief period of time. But, this period did put the community on the map and is responsible for some of the stately buildings and homes that still exist today along Lincoln Avenue.
