Miserere

The Sacred Triduum has commenced.

This evening, I went to the Mass of the Lord's Supper at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle on Manhattan's West Side.

In accord with the somber tone of the night watch, here for this week's "YouTube clip for a peaceful weekend" is a performance of "Miserere mei, Deus" by Gregorio Allegri (1582 - 1652).

I love the traditions of our church but re-living the crucifixion leaves my heart heavy with pain, perhaps because my own son died at 26 and I could relate to Mother Mary's pain as well......then when I remember why Jesus died for all of our sins so that we may be forgiven and spend eternity with him and all the saints I am so very grateful......:-) Hugs
